For my studio photography final project, I decided to shoot a series of photos for a fictional ad campaign. My purpose was to create provocative imagery of harmful coping mechanisms with friendly messaging to draw attention, spark discussions, and raise awareness about mental health. I used Project Semicolon branding since that is my favorite mental health non-profit organization.
In my creative process, I was mainly inspired by old 1950s ad posters that promoted unhealthy products as being miraculous, such as sugar, pesticides, and most notably, cigarettes.
